Josh Seidenfeld is a Partner and Chair of Northern California at DLA Piper, where he guides life sciences, healthcare, and technology companies throughout their life cycle, from formation through IPOs. He is a trusted counsel on corporate governance, securities matters, and complex business transactions.
Leveraging his wealth of experience and expertise, Josh has facilitated the closing of over 300 venture capital financings since 2020. His practice spans a wide range of innovation-driven industries, including biotechnology, therapeutics, pharmaceuticals, digital health, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, climate and energy technology, medical technology, open source, and software.
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Josh was the global chair of Cooley’s Digital Health Group and served on the firm’s Life Sciences Advisory Board. Before that, he worked at Practice Fusion, an online electronic health records company, where he served as corporate counsel and business development director. He led revenue generation, managed the complex regulatory environment for digital healthcare and health records, and negotiated vital commercial contracts. Josh is a contributor to Cooley GO, the firm’s digital platform that offers tools, guidance, and data for startups and emerging companies.
I am a partner with DLA Piper in the Silicon Valley office. I act as outside general counsel to my clients. My practice consists of representing high growth companies and investors on general corporate matters, with a focus on emerging companies, private financings, initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to starting my career as outside counsel in a law firm, I was the Director of Business Development and Corporate Counsel for Practice Fusion, an electronic health record company located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
