About Me
A graduate of Appleby College, one of Canada’s leading independent preparatory high schools, Teja Peltomaa is a third-year student at Ryerson University in Toronto, where she studies social work. Her goal in the program is to broaden and deepen her understanding of issues affecting women and marginalized communities and to further give back to her community. Teja Peltomaa’s long history as a volunteer includes more than a year working at Kids Help Phone, a 24-hour crisis hotline.

In addition, Ms. Peltomaa has volunteered with a range of other Toronto-area organizations over the past few years. She has served as a companion to senior adults coping with memory impairments at Revera Retirement Living, while she helped carry forward the mission of supporting young people struggling with eating disorders at Danielle’s Place.

At the Oakville Animal Clinic, Ms. Peltomaa served as a supply team organizer, and she helped out with sales at a Salvation Army Thrift Store. Her first paying jobs, as a babysitter, also helped her develop notable skills of planning, organization, and active listening.

Also, Teja Peltomaa was a competitive figure skater who won or placed in several events in Canada from 2008 to 2016. Her personal interests include board games, painting, music, and fashion.
