- Assumed increasing levels of authority for this dynamic national organization that serves management interests of entire electric contracting industry with responsibility for bringing electrical power, lighting, and communications to buildings and communities throughout the United States.
Maintained responsibility for regulatory signatory contracts between IBEW and NECA. Attended industry meetings and supported electrical contracting industry through advocacy, education, research, and standards development. Managed and reported on multi-million-dollar budget. Trustee, Decatur, IL Health and Welfare and Pension Trust Funds. Extensive knowledge of Labor Management Relations Act (Taft-Hartley Act).
- Highlighted Responsibilities & Achievements:
- Represented union contractors through labor disputes, negotiations, and supported educational and training initiatives. Shared information in support of programs that provided innovation, trends, and leadership exclusive to electrical contractors.
- Led execution of streamlined and accurate services for all employees in jurisdiction, which included dissemination of funds to pensions, health and welfare accounts, annuities, and union dues.
- Promoted industry as mechanism to increase number of tradespeople entering field. Attended meetings and served as advocate for electrical union.
• Managed investments in advertising and marketing initiatives to promote NECA IBEW on TV and radio. - Planned, executed, and managed 15 annual national conventions, including large programs in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, which included selecting venues and overseeing all efforts focused on driving efforts of NECA.
• Worked with governor of Nebraska on fundraising initiatives and secured $150K grant to build windmill training center to capture work for electricians; effort received positive news coverage. - Provided strategic and operational oversight of staff, programs, growth, and execution of NECA’s mission in local regions. Developed and maintained knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and business plans.
• Ensured local programmatic excellence and consistent quality of financial and administration, communications and systems to achieve goals. - Secured settlements resulting from reduced man-hours and worked with union business managers to secure wage freezes when necessary.
• Fostered strong collaborative relationships with union leaders to achieve positive working outcomes. - Integrated multi-media and technologies to promote electrical industry. Also, collaborated with state and federal policymakers to enact industry changes.
