Led two separate missions: In the first one, investigated child international adoption in Cambodia, and a second one conducted an evaluation of a well-known organization of Cambodian lawyers providing legal aid to the poor.
Detailed Description
In the first mission, investigated the situation of international child adoption in Cambodia. The report was endorsed by the Dutch Minister of Justice who ordered the immediate cessation of all adoption of Cambodian children by Dutch citizens until proper safeguards against child trafficking are established in the country. The report was also distributed to all foreign Embassies in Bangkok and in Cambodia, and led indirectly to the same decision by other countries, as well as a general moratorium on adoption in Cambodia.
In the second mission, conducted an evaluation on a well-known organization of Cambodian lawyers supported by the Royal Netherlands Embassy. The findings and recommendations of the report were endorsed by the Board of the organization and led to a major restructuring of the organogram, as well as a significant necessary revision of the organization’s goal, objectives and management.
