Jenison, Michigan, resident Shawn Eric Gillum is an award-winning news reporter with a background in law. As a reporter at WOOD TV8 in Grand Rapids, Shawn Eric Gillum has covered breaking news and wrote compelling news stories for a variety of platforms, and was selected as the first reporter to establish the Kalamazoo Bureau. Earlier, while working as a news anchor, reporter, and producer at KCWY News 13 in Casper, Wyoming, Shawn Eric Gillum earned Best News Reporter distinction from the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters.

During Mr. Gillum's legal career, he last oversaw the legal research and writing department at The Orr Law Firm in Denver, Colorado. Before that, he served 3 years as general counsel to Hope Online Learning Academy, where he negotiated MOUs with 13 Colorado school districts to allow the academy to operate online learning centers in those areas. He also litigated a dispute with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and won all appeals before the State Board of Education.

Mr. Gillum also worked as a defense attorney at Isaacson Rosenbaum, and deputy district attorney at the Office of the District Attorney for the First Judicial District in Golden, Colorado. He earned his juris doctor degree from the University of Denver, where he was a Most Outstanding Graduate Award finalist, and holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Colorado State University.
