A resident of Fairfax, Virginia, Scott Alan Flanders is the owner of Northern Virginia Title & Escrow, Inc (NVT&E), a firm he started in June 1993 in his spare bedroom after years of legal practice. Scott Alan Flanders wasn’t always into real estate settlements. After earning his Juris Doctor at the University of Virginia in 1990, he delved into insurance coverage litigation with Hoyle, Morris & Kerr, a Philadelphia-based firm. It was during this time that he developed a preference for repeatable task work, something different from litigation which required re-education with every new case. He settled on estate planning and real estate settlements.
Scott Flanders became an expert in these areas and started his own practice in Vienna, Virginia. With affordability as his selling point, he began looking for clients while handling all the office’s communications and administrative tasks. As the firm grew, he realized he was writing bigger checks to title insurance agencies than he was receiving, despite doing all the work. That is when the idea for NVT&E was born.
Scott Flanders first ran NVT&E from his home before finally moving to a commercial space in 1997. Since then, he has steered the firm through five phases of growth and even opened a new office near Lake Anna in Virginia. Outside of work, Mr. Flanders is a dedicated family man and a deacon at the Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church.
