About Me
Dr. Robert Hardi, a gastroenterologist based in Bethesda, Maryland, is a certified physician investigator and fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association. He is also a fellow of the Academy of Physicians in Clinical Research and serves on that organization’s board of trustees. In addition to his work as the medical director of Altimmune, Robert Hardi, MD, handles gastroenterology operations as principal at Chevy Chase Gastroenterology and a consultant for Physician Associates of MD.

In preparation for his career, Dr. Hardi completed several postdoctoral training programs. These include an internship at Semmelweis University in Hungary, where he received his MD, and a residency in internal medicine at Bonifatius Hospital Lingen in Germany. Upon moving to the United States, he completed a hematology-oncology fellowship program at the University of New Mexico, along with a residency in internal medicine and a GI fellowship at Weill Medical College at Cornell University.

Beyond his formal education, Robert Hardi, MD, possesses over three decades of hands-on experience in the gastroenterology field. He worked as a physician in private practice for over 10 years at the beginning of his career and served as a gastroenterologist consultant for the World Bank. Further, Dr. Hardi has held several academic appointments throughout his career, along with numerous professional appointments, and has been the principal investigator on over 350 gastroenterology clinical trials.
