With a bachelor of science in fire administration from Columbia Southern University, Richard Shannon Draper has years of firefighting experience. Since 2014, Richard Shannon Draper has worked with the Bucks County Community College as a fire service instructor.
He leads classes across several areas while also holding examinations for fire officers and inspectors, among other positions. Alongside teaching at the Pennsylvania college, Mr. Draper has taught in multiple countries, including South Korea and Japan.
With each class, he is responsible for setting up the room to ensure that it is an appropriate environment for the material covered. In addition, Mr. Draper has been a fire chief with the city of Vermillion. In the position, he oversaw 22 paid employees, alongside 30 volunteer firefighters.
He also made changes to the department’s records management, training, and asset deployment. As a result, the department’s annual insurance expenses were reduced. Mr. Draper enjoys several hobbies, including skiing and camping.
