About Me
Possessing nearly 25 years of experience in psychiatry, Richard Pines has spent the majority of his professional life in Idaho. He has treated patients at several facilities, including Access Behavioral Health in Boise, Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in Lewiston, and St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. In addition to providing direct care, Richard Pines has trained medical students and doctors, as well as rural clinicians and physicians.

To prepare for his career, Pines attended Loyola University in Chicago as an undergraduate. After earning his bachelor of science in biology and psychology, he remained with the institution and obtained a master of arts in developmental psychology, having written the thesis The Effects of Asphyxia Neonatorum on Infant State Patterns. Continuing his studies, he enrolled at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and earned a doctor of osteopathy.

After receiving his doctorate, Richard Pines accepted a rotating osteopathic internship at Lakeview Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Subsequently, he completed residencies in pediatrics and psychiatry at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, and at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry in Topeka, Kansas, respectively. To conclude his clinical training, he completed a fellowship in child psychiatry at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry.
