An entrepreneur with diverse business experience, Raquel Baquero holds a bachelor of science degree in economics from Florida International University, where she was also a member of the school’s Division I tennis team. After completing her undergraduate studies, Raquel Baquero worked in the new accounts section of Merrill Lynch in Miami, Florida. She subsequently completed an executive course in long-term negotiation strategies at Harvard University.
From 2001 to 2008, Ms. Baquero served as manager of Santo Domingo’s Aqua Sushi Restaurant & Bar, which is consistently rated as one of the top five restaurants in the country. She then spent several years as owner and chief executive officer of Cabo Verde, a company that represented and distributed high-end hair care products.
For the past ten years, Ms. Baquero has been a part owner of Transwest Enterprises in Santo Domingo. A leading provider of customer-driven solutions for telecommunication companies, Transwest was the first company to place cell phone antennas on billboards in the Dominican Republic. In her free time, Ms. Baquero enjoys tennis and horseback riding.
