About Me
An experienced Pennsylvania-based executive in the healthcare industry, Ralph “Randy” Holloway Thurman serves as the executive chairman of Outlook Therapeutics and the director of TFF Pharmaceuticals. Over the course of his career, he has also held positions with organizations like Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Pharmaceuticals and Corning Life Sciences. At the latter company, he created one of the first diagnostics laboratories for genomics testing. Prior to his current roles, Ralph Holloway Thurman oversaw VIASYS Healthcare, which he founded to engineer diagnostic technologies for respiratory and neurological diseases. He sold VIASYS to Cardinal Health in 2008 and became a senior advisor and operating partner in private equity.
Mr. Thurman credits his time in the US Air Force for his executive leadership skills, and he has published articles about how military and combat service informed his later career. In the Air Force, he was an advanced jet instructor and a combat pilot. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and eight combat medals, along with the Air Force Commendation Medal. He was later named to the prestigious Distinguished Flying Cross Society.
A graduate of Webster University, Mr. Thurman has a master of arts in management. He also completed training through the corporate governance program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. As an undergraduate, he studied economics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He also completed the U.S. Air Force Command and Staff College. He is a licensed Airline Transport Pilot and U.S. Coast Guard Captain.
Mr Thurman and his family created The Giving Tree Foundation which supports children in South Africa and the West Indies. More recently they've turned their focus to charities in the Philadelphia area providing needed help to single parent families going through life transitions. He is also a director of The Island Green Living Association bringing eco-friendly environmental initiatives to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
