About Me
Born in Montreal and raised in Toronto, Nick Muzin charted an unconventional career path that merged healthcare, law, and politics. After earning a full scholarship to Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he continued his education at Yale Law School, where he served as vice president of the Federalist Society. During his time at Yale, Muzin took a page from Bill Clinton's playbook by pausing his studies to work as legal counsel for George W. Bush's 2004 re-election campaign.

Following graduation, Muzin spent three years at prestigious law firm Williams & Connolly specializing in healthcare law. His practice included defending physicians and Georgetown Hospital in malpractice suits while also representing pharmaceutical companies in liability litigation. His expertise in medicine and law made him a natural fit as senior medical adviser for John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign, where he handled the sensitive task of reviewing and preparing McCain's medical records for media release.

Muzin's career took a pivotal turn when he relocated to Charleston, South Carolina and connected with Tim Scott, then serving on the Charleston County Council. When Scott considered running for lieutenant governor, Muzin strategically suggested a congressional bid instead. Managing Scott's campaign against formidable opponents including Paul Thurmond and Carroll Campbell III, Muzin helped secure a historic victory—Scott became the first Black Republican elected to Congress from the South since Reconstruction.

Following Scott's appointment to the Senate in 2012, Muzin joined the House Republican Conference as director of coalitions under Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers. In this role, he orchestrated outreach efforts for all 232 Republican Congress members, developing innovative strategies to engage minority communities, women, and younger voters.

In 2014, Ted Cruz tapped Muzin to serve in dual capacities—as deputy chief of staff in his Senate office and senior adviser on his presidential campaign. During the 2016 presidential race, Muzin helped raise approximately $100 million, contributing to a campaign operation widely regarded as exceptionally well-managed despite Cruz ultimately conceding to Donald Trump.

Today, Muzin heads Stonington Global, offering comprehensive services including legal counsel, government consulting, lobbying, and advisory work. He's distinguished his firm in the industry by implementing flexible month-to-month retainer arrangements rather than the standard long-term contracts.
