Moses Dixon graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton in New York, where he completed his Doctoral degree in community and public affairs.
Moses Dixon is building a career focused on advocating for members of his community, especially those who have been disenfranchised and marginalized. As a hopeful and upbeat person, he uses his motivation and positive attitude to locate and address issues impacting senior citizens, communities of color, and the homeless population. Above all else, Moses strives to effect positive change for those in need in his community.
Moses Dixon has also been published throughout his academic career. In 2009, he published “A Qualitative Analysis of African Americans’ Role in Preparing Future Leaders” with the National Conference on Undergraduate Research through the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse; in 2011 – along with eight other authors – he published “Youth and Young Adult Homelessness in Worcester, Massachusetts”; and in 2013, he published “A Strategic Overview of The Proposed Slots Parlor in The City of Worcester, Massachusetts Green Island Area” through Clark University.
Provide leadership and overall management to the Agency; utilizing policies set by the Board of Directors and sound management principles. Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging (CMAA) is the largest, both geographically (1,500 sq. mi. in 61 municipalities) and numerically (over 130,000 elders) of the twenty -three area agencies on aging (AAA) in the services access points (or ASAPs, once known as home care corporations) as well as 61 Councils on Aging and Senior Centers, and dozens of human service providers to build the capacity of the entire elder service system. CMAA also works in cooperation with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs and the Federal Administration on Aging, an agency of the Administration for Community Living.
• In collaboration with the President and CEO developed and managed CENTRO, INC strategy for strengthening relationships with elected officials and government agencies and increasing their understanding of and support for CENTRO. • Supervised staff, interns and volunteers • Planned budget for government relations activities within CENTRO, INC budget. • Works with the board leadership to identify priority legislative and government relations issues for CENTRO. Communicated and advocated CENTRO, INC priorities to local, regional, state and national elected officials and staff. • Monitored legislation and policy activities, updates and advises leadership and staff about relevant policy proposals and actions, and worked with staff to analyze potential impacts on CENTRO, INC. • Developed a wide range of materials in support of CENTRO, INC government relations agenda, such as talking points, legislative summaries, factsheets, testimony, reports, and letters.
Case Management: Assisted Homeless Veterans in moving into permanent housing. Provides advocacy, client education, and crisis management when necessary to prevent housing disruption. • Supervised and worked with two staff members on the wrap-around HUD VASH rental voucher program.
• Outreach: Develop and maintain network of landlords who are interested in leasing housing to Homeless veterans and their families. Develop and manage referral networks and linkages with housing and resource service providers, homeless service providers, employment service providers, veterans’ service providers, veterans’ service organizations, municipal veteran service officers, Veterans Affairs (VA), and others as appropriate.
