Mauricio Kalukango is a skilled Equipment Service Associate at BMW Manufacturing USA. He is celebrated for his expertise in maintaining and optimizing complex electrical and electromechanical systems for leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Born in Botswana to Angolan parents, he moved to the United States in 1982, settling in Atlanta, GA. This move sparked his interest in aviation, leading him to complete an Aviation Maintenance course at Atlanta Technical College, a decision that would define his career trajectory.
In the wake of the economic challenges following the 9/11 attacks and the housing market crash, Kalukango redirected his career focus toward heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) technology. This shift broadened his technical knowledge and opened up new career pathways in machine maintenance.
Kalukango has played integral roles in prestigious companies such as Caterpillar Inc. and Pumpingsol, managing critical industrial equipment necessary for efficient, high-speed operations. His tenure in these positions has dramatically enhanced his industrial automation and process equipment skills, keeping him on the cutting edge of technological developments in the manufacturing industry.
Kalukango’s early life was shaped by the turmoil of the Angolan civil war, which led his family to seek safety in Botswana. They eventually made their way to the USA, where his father, a craftsman and construction foreman, imparted the values of hard work and community unity. These values were instrumental as he navigated his educational and career paths, prominently during his time as Student Body President of his high school, from which he graduated in 1997.
