Before serving the country, as an Officer in the United States Army , Kyle MacGibbon earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. While on active duty he served as an Air Defense Artillery Officer and completed both basic and advanced officer training programs through the US Army Air Defense Artillery School. He ultimately rose to the rank or Captain for several years prior to leaving the service after completing his service obligation. In recognition of his achievements, Kyle MacGibbon was awarded an Army Meritorious Service Medal and an Army Commendation Medal. Toward the end of his military service, he undertook MBA coursework at the University of Texas El Paso.
Kyle MacGibbon subsequently entered the private sector as a diagnostic sales representative with Abbott Laboratories. He stayed with Abbott for the remainder of his career, holding a series of positions at multiple company locations for almost 30 years. He retired from Abbott in 2016 as the senior director of global marketing for its Immunoassay Reagent Franchise in North Chicago, Illinois.
