University of Minnesota alumnus Dr. Khalid Shirif earned a bachelor's degree in physiology from the school’s College of Liberal Arts in 1991, and subsequently completed a doctor of medicine degree. From there, Dr. Khalid Shirif completed a surgery internship at Boston University Medical Center. He finished his residency at State University of New York at Buffalo, where he was the administrative chief resident during his final year.
After achieving board certification in both general surgery and hospice and palliative care by the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Khalid Shirif began working as medical director at Sunrise Hospice and Sunrise Health in Mesa, Arizona. Today, Dr. Shirif maintains affiliation with Sunrise Health, and concurrently serves as medical director at Traditions Hospice. Moreover, he is the owner of Anthem Hospice and Vanguard Physician Group. He also served as medical director at Reflections Hospice from 2011 to 2019. Dr. Shirif is currently board certified in both Surgery and Palliative Care.
