A public school educator for nearly 25 years, Kenny Torres taught within the Long Beach Unified School District and the Los Alamitos Unified School District before joining the faculty at The Education Corps Charter School. Appointed to Long Beach faculty as a bilingual science teacher, he also served as the head wrestling coach and assistant coach to the girls' gymnastics team. He left Long Beach in 1999 to become a teacher of life science, biology, and anatomy and physiology in Los Alamitos.

Mr. Torres served the latter district for 18 years, during which time he earned a number of honors as head varsity wrestling coach. In 2002, he was named Orange County Wrestling Coach of the Year in recognition of his success the previous season in guiding the team to victory as Sunset League champions. Based on his accomplishments in the 2010-2011 season, he was later named Sunset League Coach of the Year.

Now a science, math, and physical education teacher at The Education Corps Charter School, Mr. Torres also serves as a member of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Wrestling Advisory Board. He is currently anticipating induction into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
