A highly educated Viniyoga practitioner, Kausthub Desikachar holds a master's degree in economics and an MBA in business from Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences, as well as a PhD in psychology from the University of Madras. Kausthub Desikachar began his career as an economic strategist at Murugappa Group in 1997, and soon after shifted his professional focus to the Viniyoga tradition.
Kausthub Desikachar joined Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram as editor in its publications department in 2000, and served 3 years in this capacity. He concurrently worked as a senior yoga therapy consultant, and later served as its chief strategic consultant. In 2006, he founded Krishnamacharya Healing & Yoga Foundation (KHYF) out of Chennai, India, and has since expanded its reach through the establishment of KHYF International, which is headquartered in Belgium. In addition, he has visited more than a dozen countries to promote yoga and yoga therapy since 1997.
Mr. Desikachar is also the founder and director of Viniyoga Pte. Ltd., through which he oversees Viniyoga activities in China, Japan, and Singapore, among other Asian countries. He is a life member of the Indian Yoga Association, and also a member of the International Positive Psychology Association and the American Psychological Association.
