Leveraging her expertise in life coaching and family therapy, Dr. Kateresea L. “Kat” Ford is a consultant and counselor for businesses, individual adults, and children. In addition, Dr. Kateresea L. “Kat” Ford serves as a teacher and advisor for several Virginia community colleges. Her expertise includes student-centered instruction, team motivation, and youth advocacy.
Dr. Ford spent 13 years at Creative Youth Concepts in Richmond as its chief administrative officer and clinical director. Managing a 65-member team, she initiated programs and made policy recommendations. She also hired and evaluated employees and college interns.
Earlier, Dr. Ford was a counselor for Richmond’s public schools, where she assisted students, developed learning plans for high-risk pupils, and ensured compliance with standards and goals. In addition, she organized events for community members and public officials.
Dr. Ford has earned several accolades, including the Outstanding New Teacher Award for Richmond Public Schools. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the American Play Therapist Association, and the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
The author of two books on parenting for teenagers, Dr. Ford graduated with a BS in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. She followed that with a master’s in counseling education from Virginia State University and a doctorate in general human services from Capella University. She also holds an advance graduate certificate in human services from Nova Southeastern University.
