About Me
Joseph “Joe” Torda lost his father to an opioid overdose several days after his 18th birthday, an event that shaped his life considerably. In addition, both his sister and brother are adopted, and he helped his sister reunite with her biological father, which resulted in a positive relationship. Joseph Torda is also very close to his brother, who has a mental illness.

While obtaining a double major in political science and English, with departmental honors, at the University of Vermont, Joe Torda was active in the Laurence Debate Union. He went as far as competing internationally in Bangalore, India.

In 2013, Mr. Torda earned a juris doctor from St. John’s University School of Law. Joining the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office as assistant state’s attorney, he initially managed misdemeanor criminal cases, then eventually handled cases under the Circuit Felony Trial Division. As assistant district attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office since 2018, Mr. Torda’s responsibilities have included handling felony cases, reviewing criminal arrests, and serving on the Gun Violence Task Force.
