About Me
An experienced educator and school administrator in Redlands, California, John Black began teaching as a Peace Corps volunteer after securing his bachelor of arts in math and economics from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. Working in Africa, he instructed high school students in the French language. John Black went on to teach middle school in Louisiana while working toward his master of arts in education at the University of New Orleans.

Upon graduation, Dr. Black went overseas again, teaching middle school Spanish in Honduras for several years. He subsequently returned to the United States, serving as a middle school classroom instructor from 1995 to 1999 and obtaining his doctor of education from California Coast University in Santa Ana.

In school administration for the past two decades, John Black has served as a principal at multiple US institutions of learning as well as in leadership positions with the Noblesse International School in the Philippines and Nibras International School in the United Arab Emirates. He has served as head of school with Valley Preparatory in Redlands, California, since 2015.
