Jim Cantrell brings over 30 years of experience in the aerospace industry to his role as CEO of Phantom Space in Tucson, Arizona. He co-founded Phantom Space in 2019 after leading StratSpace in Logan, Utah, for more than 15 years. Also the former director of Space Dynamics Lab, Jim Cantrell has held positions with a number of other organizations over the course of his career, including the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the National Centre for Space Studies (CNES). Additionally, he was the first vice president of business development at SpaceX.
In addition to his work on satellite launch missions, Mars exploration technologies, and space situational awareness sensors, Jim Cantrell has authored numerous technical papers that have helped advance innovation in his field. A mechanical engineer, he holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Utah State University and has received several professional awards for his work. Mr. Cantrell is also an avid road racer and the owner of Vintage Exotics Competition Engineering, an organization that restores vintage race cars and manages an endurance race team.
