Jigar Thakarar is an established Los Angeles techno DJ and producer who also has extensive marketing leadership experience in the music industry. In his present position with the Recording Academy’s nonprofit wing MusiCares Foundation, Jigar Thakarar is tasked with sponsorship, fundraising, and brand awareness development. These activities support MusiCares’ initiatives on behalf of music industry professionals who experience unavoidable emergencies.
Mr. Thakarar began his career with Bain & Company, where he engaged with global brands on strategic consulting efforts. He subsequently served as an MTV development and integrated marketing associate, assisting with series such as Pimp My Ride and Punk’d. Next serving as an agent with Creative Artists Agency, he was a pioneering force in the representation of Internet influencers. He also supported traditional agency clients such as Will Ferrell in their successful efforts to cross over to digital platforms.
Before joining MusiCares, Mr. Thakarar served United Entertainment Group as vice president of talent and influencers. His accomplishments there included negotiating A-list talent partnerships across diverse media channels and working with clients such as Habitat for Humanity and Unilever. Jigar Thakarar’s team earned a Cannes Lion award for work on an SC Johnson cause-based campaign.
