A member of the Alabama Business Hall of Fame, James S. Holbrook, Jr. is a Birmingham, Alabama-based investment executive with more than 50 years of experience. In his most recent role as chairman and CEO at The Group, James S. Holbrook, Jr. grew the brokerage firm's presence from two offices in Alabama to offices in 43 states and London, United Kingdom. Moreover, it generated $475 million and employed 1,800 people.
James S. Holbrook, Jr. previously spent two decades as CEO at First Birmingham Securities Corp. and provided investment advice to clients as a registered representative at First Alabama Securities. He started his career as a municipal banker at R W Knight and Co. in 1965.
Complementing his experience, Mr. Holbrook, Jr. is a former board of governors member of the National Association of Securities Dealers and holds a bachelor's degree in finance and banking from the University of Alabama. Active in state politics and civic affairs, he has supported several political campaigns and belongs to the Birmingham chapter of the Rotary Club.
