A graduate of the Rutgers University School of Law in NJ, James E. Dow, Jr., stood out as an accomplished law student who served as the president of the Student Bar Association, as well as the editor of the Rutgers Journal of Computers and Law. After completing his education in 1972, he earned admission to practice in NJ and the US Virgin Islands (USVI), and began his career as a law clerk for the US District Court of the USVI. Two years later, James E. Dow, Jr., accepted a position as assistant attorney general for the USVI, a role in which he advised the attorney general and served as counsel to the USVI Department of Education.

After spending several years in private practice in the USVI, Mr. Dow returned to NJ in 1980 to work as an attorney in the Hackensack Office of the Public Defender. Since that time, he has served as a solo practitioner, associate attorney, and partner for several prominent law firms and other entities in the state. He also spent 10 years as a judge for the Englewood Municipal Court.

Mr. Dow draws upon this experience in his current position as a solo practitioner in Hackensack, where he handles cases related to workers’ compensation, civil litigation, criminal defense, and other matters. A member of numerous professional associations, he has received honors from the United States Congress and the NAACP for his civic and professional efforts.
