A healthcare executive, Dr. Gilbert Varela prepared for his career by earning a bachelor of science in psychology and biology from Claremont College, where he graduated cum laude. Dr. Gilbert Varela went on to obtain a doctor of medicine from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, as well as a master of business administration from Pepperdine University.
Dr. Varela founded Sadler Healthcare, Inc., in 2002. Fulfilling the role of medical director, he oversees three residential substance abuse recovery facilities licensed by the California Department of Healthcare Services. He also serves as the president of Alliance Health Systems, an independent medical practice association in Los Angeles County, and president of Varela Medical Group, a private practice specializing in personal and industrial injury cases.
Dr. Varela is a member of the California Society of Addiction Medicine. He formerly sat on the board of the California Primary Care Association, Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County, and Coalition of Orange County Community Clinics.
