A resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Raymond "RJ" Fitch is a performance-driven executive with dynamic experience in life sciences manufacturing, site operations, and supply-chain logistics. Currently working as the vice president of operations and general manager at WuXi AppTec in Philadelphia, Raymond "RJ" Fitch oversees the manufacture of gene therapy, viral vector, and CAR-T cell therapy products at four facilities with about 650 personnel and over $150 million in revenue targets.
Throughout his 25-year career, RJ Fitch has demonstrated strong expertise in implementing process improvements at manufacturing facilities and turning around operations. Before WuXi AppTec, Mr. Fitch had worked at Sanofi Pasteur for 12 years in various executive roles. As the vice president and site head of a vaccine manufacturing plant in Canada, he drove site transformations that blended operational excellence with cultural change, leading to lifting an FDA warning letter. As the associate vice president of Genzyme, a Sanofi company that manufactured rare disease products, RJ Fitch installed transformational leadership models that improved re-supply by two years, improved purification utilization 114 percent, and eliminated 98 percent of compliance backlog.
Ahead of joining Sanofi, RJ Fitch worked at Merck, supervising the filling of vaccines and sterile pharmaceuticals (over 50 million vial units a year). He executed a turnaround strategy that relied on senior training management and strengthening compliance to remediate a critical warning letter and clear $40 million in vaccine backorders. Mr. Fitch has an MBA from New York University - Stern School of Business.
