Leading a private psychotherapy practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ellen Ostroff is an active licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who holds a master of science in clinical social work from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and a bachelor of arts in psychology from Boston University. While attending Boston University, Ellen Ostroff, gained admittance to the Psi Chi international psychology honor society.
Ellen Ostroff, LCSW, went on to work for Philadelphia institutions such as the Renfrew Center and the Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment. She has also founded or co-founded several therapeutic organizations of her own including the general psychotherapy practice Bloomgarden, Ostroff & Associates.
Her areas of clinical expertise include dialectical behavior therapy and emotionally focused therapy for couples. She also has extensive training and expertise in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) treatment. EMDR allows patients to alleviate the pain of past traumatic events by performing strategically directed rapid and rhythmic eye movements.
