With almost two decades of experience in education, Dr. Darnell Yates is an adjunct professor at Grand Canyon University, alongside serving as a faculty supervisor. In the roles, Dr. Darnell Yates is responsible for ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary skills for their chosen career path.
In addition, Dr. Yates maintains professional relationships with other schools across the district while assessing candidates for open positions. Alongside the role, he serves as an assistant principal of the Dorchester County public school system, where he provides leadership and coordinates extra-curricular activities.
In the position, Dr. Darnell Yates oversees the pre-kindergarten to grade five classes across Hurlock Elementary and Sandy Hill Elementary. Before beginning his career in education, he studied criminology and criminal justice at Virginia Union University and graduated with a bachelor of arts.
He subsequently pursued a master of science in elementary education from Virginia State University, which he earned in 2005. In addition, he holds master’s degrees in special education, school counseling, and educational leadership, alongside a doctorate from Argosy University.
