About Me
David Lawrence currently serves on the board of directors at Stone Energy Corporation. In this position, he is a member of the audit committee, the reserves committee, and the nominating and governance committee. Before joining Stone Energy, David Lawrence served as the executive vice president of exploration and commercial at Shell Upstream Americas in Houston, Texas.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Lawrence functioned as an executive in a number of positions at the global Shell headquarters. Beginning as the vice president of corporate strategy in the London office, he was eventually promoted to executive vice president of investor relations, and later to executive vice president of global exploration at the headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands.

During his years within Shell, he received many industry accolades, ranging from the AAPG Wallace Pratt Award, to an Investor Relations London Award and the API Meritorious Service Award. Additionally, he has served as a keynote speaker, convenor and panelist at numerous conferences around the world, including the Annual American Association of Petroleum Geologists Meeting, Society of Exploration Geophysicists annual conference, the Wall Street Journal ECO:nomics Conference, the Houston Geological Society, the Yale Climate and Energy Institute Annual Conference, Deutsche Bank Oil and Gas Conference, the Offshore Technology Conference, the Global Security Forum, and the World Petroleum Congress. He is a past chairman of the European Association of Geologists and Engineers Annual Meeting.

Mr. Lawrence earned his PhD in geology and geophysics from Yale University and his BA from Lawrence University.
