Crissy Cáceres, a 27-year veteran in independent education, is in her fifth year as the proud head of Brooklyn Friends School.
Crissy is committed to utilizing her voice within collaborative settings centered on creating socially just and healthy experiences for our schools. At her core, she embraces the values of a love-based, joyful, and inclusive education for all.
Leading a Quaker, independent, day school that serves approximately 700students ages two through 12 grade and employs 200+ dedicatedcolleagues in downtown Brooklyn. In partnership with a 16-memberleadership team, deliver in a student and mission-centered program with afoundation of Quaker values and three community pillars: Diversity, Equity,& Belonging; Global Social Impact; and Wholeness & Wellbeing.
Reported to and partnered with the Head of School in leading & supporting a PreK-12 school founded on and committed to the advancement of social justice values and practice. In addition to shepherding a multi-year campus unification effort,Crissy created systems and processes to advance evidence-based leadership at GDS,including co-authoring the GDS Hiring Protocols & Practices booklet andimplementing longitudinal data collection to track and analyze student data withparticular focus on access, inclusion, and achievement.
Leading the Lower School within an independent Quaker school serving studentsage three through grade 12, Crissy led a nationally-recognized Early ChildhoodProgram grounded in Reggio Emilia Philosophy and Emergent Learning Pedagogyand a Lower School program committed to experiential learning, strong sillsacquisition, and a community-centered, joyful, and purposeful daily learning andgrowing experience.
