About Me
A Columbia County resident who lived and worked in New York City for more than four decades, Claire Gruppo holds a position with Terra Nova Capital Partners as senior managing director. Claire Gruppo’s work is a continuation of her leadership of GLC Partners and involves facilitating complex M&A undertakings, from origination to closing.

Raised as an expatriate, Gruppo grew up primarily in Brazil and Argentina. She pursued a bachelor’s degree in English and theater at Wesleyan University, and subsequently joined Holt, Rinehart & Winston as assistant editor. Having contributed to growth on all levels with the publishing company’s children’s book division, Gruppo shifted to the magazine industry in the late 1970s. Positions she held included managing editor of Savvy Magazine and vice president, development, with Diversion Communications. Gruppo ultimately co-founded GLC Partners (originally known as Gruppo, Levey & Co.) in 1992 and built up a successful investment bank focused on solutions in the direct marketing sector, as well as venture equity.

A collector of artwork in the American folk tradition, Claire Gruppo is also an avid reader who enjoys perusing biographies and historical works in her free time. Current creative projects include work on a memoir and a children's book, and she also contributes time and effort to nonprofits such as the Grace Children’s Foundation.
