Bryan Specht

Bryan Specht

From Survivor to Thriver

Chicago United States (Illinois)
Employed Available
Bryan Specht knows how to make the most out of a bad situation. After taking the negative experiences in his life and turning them into something positive, Bryan Specht became a powerful advocate against child abuse and neglect.

Growing up in a troubled home, Mr. Specht was himself a victim of child abuse. He was battling substance addiction and engaging in self-destructive behavior by the time he was 14 years old. It was not until a police officer offered him help and support that Specht began the difficult process of turning his life around.

After his rehabilitation, Bryan Specht committed himself to helping others who were unable to help themselves. He founded the Promised Land Society, a foundation dedicated to promoting the well-being of children, and established the Awful Grace Project, an organization and support group for abuse survivors. In recognition of his efforts, he was chosen as the keynote speaker for the 2009 Illinois Child Abuse Prevention Conference.
