Dr. George E. Bogden is a consultant and attorney known for his contributions to international affairs and trade policy. His career encompasses significant roles in government, academia, and private law practice. Currently, he is a Senior Counsel at Continental Strategy.

In 2025, he served as Executive Director of the Office of Trade Relations at U.S. Customs and Border Protection within the Department of Homeland Security. As Executive Director of the Office of Trade Relations at CBP, Dr. Bogden served as the primary liaison between CBP and the international trade community, fostering stakeholder engagement and coordinating trade policy development during a transformative period in U.S. trade practices.

In his legal career, Dr. Bogden clerked at the U.S. Court of International Trade before entering private practice in Washington, D.C., specializing in international trade law. As an associate at King & Spalding LLP, he advised clients on complex trade issues, antidumping and countervailing duty investigations, and customs compliance matters.
Dr. Bogden's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University, where he was selected as a Joseph C. Fox International Fellow and spent an exchange year at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey. He completed his D.Phil. in International Relations at Oxford University as a Clarendon Scholar, conducting field research in Kosovo through a Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship. Finally, he received a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law, where he distinguished himself as a Dean's Award Scholar and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law & Liberty.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bogden has held numerous prestigious research positions and fellowships. He served as the first Associate Director of the Center for the Future of Liberal Society at the Hudson Institute and as an inaugural Senior Fellow with the Hungary Foundation in Budapest. In 2022, he was selected as the Helmut Schmidt Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States in Berlin, while concurrently serving as a Strategy & Policy Fellow funded by the Smith Richardson Foundation. His academic affiliations include an Olin-Searle-Smith-Darling Fellowship at Columbia Law School and a George F. Kennan Fellowship at the Wilson Center's Kennan Institute.
A prolific writer and sought-after speaker, Dr. Bogden has contributed to major publications including The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, War on the Rocks, Lawfare, The Hill, and The National Interest. He has authored scholarly chapters for Routledge and Marine Corps University Press publications and regularly lectures at institutions including NYU's Wagner School of Public Service and the Budapest Business School.
Dr. Bogden maintains prominent affiliations within the international policy community as a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, David Rockefeller Fellow of the Trilateral Commission, and member of the Bretton Woods Committee. His international engagement is further demonstrated through memberships at London's Chatham House and the International Institute for Strategic Studies. His numerous honors include recognition from the Brussels Forum Young Writers Award and the Royal United Services Institute's Trench Gascoigne Essay Contest.
