I was employed as a Patrol Deputy with the Washington County Sheriff's Office for seven years. I received satisfactory annual evaluations during my entire career with the Sheriff's Office. I also received a life-saving award and a Medal of Valor for my service.
During my tenure as a police officer, I developed communications skills that were critical in maintaining the safety of the public, myself and the my co-workers. I routinely maintained my own work load, multi-tasked effectively and answered calls for service as they arose. I interacted with a wide variety of citizens during both positive times and those of crisis. I worked with all segments of the population to reach positive resolutions to issues of public safety.
A key part of this was managing those that I interacted with and their perception of me. I maintained a professional demeanor with all stakeholders and was able to resolve most situations positively.
I served on the Domestic Violence Resource team and I received training for Computer Forensics. As part of my duties on Domestic Violence Resource team I oversaw and assigned work to my colleagues and directly reported to our supervisor. I also worked to improve the work product of my colleagues.
