Recognized as a Hometown Hero by Oakland Magazine and a Woman of Distinction by the San Francisco Business Times, Rose Padilla Johnson leverages over 25 years of community support service experience to serve as CEO of San Leandro, California's Davis Street Community Center (DSCC). When Ms. Johnson joined the nonprofit organization in 1991, it operated on a $380,000 annual budget. It now has an annual budget of $18 million and provides services to nearly 15,000 people each year.
Under her leadership, DSCC has become a “one-stop shop” with comprehensive programming and essential services together under one roof. In 2015 Davis Street's newly renovated Primary Care Clinic became the city's first Federally Qualified Health Center.
In addition to her community leadership efforts, Ms. Johnson has volunteered extensively with Rotary Club initiatives, including Faces of Hope in Guatemala, and has received Rotary International's Service Above Self Award. She also earned the Global Citizen Award from the United Nations for her work to alleviate poverty and inequalities in low-income communities.
