A dedicated math teacher, Nina Gribetz teaches middle school math at the Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School in Manhattan. She has been working at the school since 2011 and spent six years teaching Common Core Math to seventh graders. Now, Nina Gribetz teaches eighth-grade math as well as algebra and is responsible for creating and executing math curriculum standards in her classroom.

In addition, Ms. Gribetz serves as the math department chair and mentor teacher for the school. On a regular basis, she coaches teachers about improving their instruction, planning, and classroom management to boost student performance. Further, she plans department meetings every week and implements new math assessments and curricula for middle schoolers.

Ms. Gribetz began her career during her last year at the University of Pennsylvania. While working toward her bachelor’s in economics, she taught math at Day Star School in Honduras. Working primarily with students in the 7th through the 11th grades, she developed the math curriculum for bilingual students in the area.

From there, Ms. Gribetz worked at the Bronx School of Science Inquiry and Investigation while earning her master of teaching secondary math through the Teach for America program at Pace University. She subsequently served two years with Achievement Preparatory Academy as a math teacher before starting her current position.
