For more than 15 years, Mauricio Corredor has been a teacher with the Denton Independent School District of Texas. He currently teaches at Tomas Rivera Elementary, where he serves as a bilingual teacher and implements the Gomez and Gomez Dual Language Program to promote second-language development. His overall goal as a bilingual educator is to help students engage in the core academic content areas as well as lay a foundation for their social and emotional growth. During his time with the school district, Mauricio Corredor has earned its Teacher of the Year award and served as a parent educator for both his school and the district.
Mauricio Corredor has a robust education in many fields. He attended Colombia's Konrad Lorenz University in the 1990s, studying psychology, then moved on to get a bachelor's degree in applied behavioral analysis from the University of North Texas in 1999. More recently, he has attended Salamanca University in Spain, where he studied language and culture.
