Over the course of his academic career, Matt Kafker has earned recognition for his dedication to academics, extracurricular activities, and the community. He stands out as recipient of the Outstanding Seniors in French award, presented to students nationwide through the American Association of Teachers of French. Matt Kafker accepted this honor having previously earned the Rene N. Bourquin French Prize as well as the Andrew M. Dawson Physics Prize and the Sibyl F. Cohane Prize for engagement with the school community.
Dedicated to the world community as well, Matt Kafker has participated in service trips to both France and Costa Rica. He routinely serves as a volunteer with outreach groups across the Boston area, focused particularly on those endeavors that allow him to distribute food to those in need. He donates his time on a weekly basis to the Pine Street Inn, a shelter for individuals living in homelessness, and has dedicated more than 30 hours to the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Matt Kafker has balanced these responsibilities with involvement in a number of extracurricular activities, both academically focused and athletic. In 2015, he helped the Middlesex School's Division 2 team to a score of 70 at the annual Physics Bowl. An accomplished cross-country runner, he earned a place on the 2014 All New England Cross Country Team and earned the Dana Lourie Bowl Award for dedication to athletic development.
