A graduate student at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Herbert Lukes will earn his master of business administration with a concentration in finance in the summer of 2017. For the past two years, he has also supported Honor Bound Logistics of Des Plaines, Illinois, as an accounting intern. While with the company, Herbert Lukes has honed his finance skills by learning accounting processes applicable especially to the transportation sector.
Before enrolling in graduate school, Herbert Lukes secured his bachelor of business administration in finance, with honors, from the University of Iowa. As an undergraduate, he participated in several campus organizations, including the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity, where he served as treasurer, and the school’s Investment Club.
Beyond his academic work, Mr. Lukes has gained practical finance experience while serving as an options trader for a company in Chicago. For the firm, he managed three employees responsible for driving-options trading profits. In fact, his efforts achieved a 100 percent return on invested capital for two years in a row.
In his private life, Herbert Lukes enjoys playing strategy card games and refereeing basketball.
