Gaurav Hiranandani entered the workforce at age 14 as a customer service representative for Baskin Robbin, the world's largest chain of ice cream specialty shop restaurants. He continued to develop his customer service skills as a Golf Attendant at the Piedmont Golf Club in Haymarket, Virginia, as well as a floral advisor for BloomsToday, a nationwide floral delivery service provider. He subsequently decided to pursue a career in accounting and financial services, obtaining both a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from George Mason University (GMU) in Fairfax, Virginia. While a student at GMU, Mr. Hiranandani began working as an accounting intern with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, a car rental and commercial fleet management company, where he was promoted to Staff Accountant. Upon graduating from GMU, Gaurav Hiranandani joined Ernst & Young as a professional within their Assurance practice. Mr. Hiranandani is currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant by the Commonwealth of Virginia, and is enrolled in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program where he is currently a Level 3 candidate. Gaurav passed both Level 1 and Level 2 on his first attempt.
While working in Ernst & Young's Assurance practice, Gaurav Hiranandani was promoted from Staff Auditor to Senior Auditor, and then to Manager in 2015. During 2016, Mr. Hiranandani was offered a position within Ernst & Young to serve as a professional practice resident in Ernst & Young’s National Office, with a focus on financial instruments, including complex debt and equity contracts with embedded derivatives. He focuses on both the issuer-side (the entity that issues the financial instrument) and the investor side (the investor in the financial instrument). His current duties include providing technical consultation support for audit teams and other consulting teams serving Ernst & Young clients. Mr. Hiranandani also writes and issues technical papers and interpretations on new debt and equity standards issued by various accounting standard setters across the World.
