Catherine Wayland is an English Language Arts instructor and English as a second language instructor living in Beaufort County, South Carolina. She has been working as a teacher in the Beaufort County school system since 2007. From Beaufort County, Catherine Wayland will now take her teaching skills further down south. Wayland will begin her doctoral work in Cultural Literacy that she began with her ESOL students. Her doctoral work will be done down in Florida.
In addition to her work as a teacher in Beaufort County, Catherine Wayland also serves as editorial director and contributes content for International Family Magazine, a platform for stories about families around the world, which she co-founded in 2006. International Family Magazine will have a 10 year anniversary issue come out on July 1, 2016.
Catherine Wayland holds a BA in English from the University of Colorado, an MA in writing and critical theory from the SUNY, Albany, and an MS in education and special education from Touro College. She hopes to finish her doctoral work in the next 2 years, and begin to help the next generation of teachers. Prior to her career as a teacher, and before she went back to school to earn her MS in education, Catherine Wayland worked as a stay at home mother for several years. When Catherine Wayland moved to Beaufort County 9 years ago, she first worked as a substitute, then as a fully certified teacher.
Aside from her career as a teacher, mother, and writer, Catherine Wayland has served several organizations as creative director, including Fidelity Investments, Blue Water Music Productions, Chef Ready, and FCBi Worldwide. Catherine Wayland will begin her move from Beaufort County down south sometime in mid-July.
