Amir Pirnia

Amir Pirnia is a hands-on technology executive with over 15 years of experience in information technology, programming, architecture and innovation. Amir Pirnia has worked for various top companies, leading their technology and innovation teams and enabling them to achieve breakout levels of growth and success.

Amir is currently Vice President of Engineering at Hixme Insurance Solutions, a Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers (KPCB) backed healthcare startup that synthesizes powerful technology and predictive algorithms that enable each worker and family member to choose tailored health insurance coverage that they own — a radical change from the traditional, limited group health plan structure. In this role, he helped develop the company's proprietary matching algorithm which optimizes health insurance plan recommendations for employees. In addition, Amir leads the technology and engineering team to develop technology strategies and implementation efforts to create an efficient health insurance selection plan in the individual market. As a member of the Hixme executive management team, Amir meets with investors and directors for the company on a regular basis.

Previously, Amir was Senior Director of Product and Technology at Legalzoom.com. He played a critical role in building the backend infrastructure for the company which has enabled its growth from a small startup when he joined in 2003 to the largest online legal website in the nation when he left the company 10 years later. He grew the software development and information technology department from 4 people to its current size of 65 team members. By working closely with the marketing team, he was able to develop campaign effectiveness analytics, marketing ROI analyses, and optimized market mix.

Amir has held technology positions at other leading companies throughout his career including Humana, AES Energy and ABCMouse.com (Age of Learning). He graduated with a degree in Computer Science from University of Windsor and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
