An accomplished student at Wake Forest University, Sophia Joanna Dodd balances her academic responsibilities with community outreach and participation in athletics. She served as a setter for the school's varsity volleyball team through her junior year, during which time she excelled at making informed on-the-spot decisions during play. Also involved in the development of the program itself, Sophia Joanna Dodd collaborated with administration and coaches to facilitate improvements.
Now on medical leave, Ms. Dodd remains involved in campus athletics as a sports marketing intern. She also leverages her marketing acumen as part of the publicity team for youth-focused food publication Spoon University and as an on-campus brand ambassador for healthy eating snack and recipe resource Slender Seven.
Ms. Dodd also stands out as a regular participant in the Wake 'N Shake Dance Marathon, a 12-hour fundraising event that benefits the Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund Drive. The high-energy event includes live music, group dancing, competitions, and games, as well as inspirational testimonials from cancer survivors and their loved ones.
