An attorney experienced in civil litigation, Sarah Baia serves as in-house counsel for The Hartford, a leading insurance company based in New York. Her responsibilities include supporting a Fortune 500 firm in defending itself against workers’ compensation claims. Sarah Baia’s background in the workers’ compensation practice of law has included a period as an attorney with a Troy, New York, based law firm; while there, she advocated for the interests of insurance carriers and self-insured companies like Lowe’s, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and Sedgwick CMS. To train for her career, Ms. Baia secured her JD from Albany Law School. As a law student, she served as lead articles editor with the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology. In recognition of her academic achievement, the school honored her with the John B. Lurie ’20 Memorial Prize. Before graduating from law school, Ms. Baia gained practical experience as a law clerk at the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. She also completed legal internships with Taylor and Associates and Easley Appellate Practice, PLLC.
