Roy MacDowell has over 30 years of experience in commercial real estate development in New England. The work he has managed has won numerous awards and been the subject of several studies regarding the promotion of diversity, regenerating failing institutions, and revitalizing declining neighborhoods. Roy MacDowell is currently a principal of Baystone Development, a Massachusetts-based real estate development and investment company.

Roy MacDowell has developed projects that have received recognition from numerous organizations, including a Massachusetts Historical Commission Award for the restoration of the Associates Block in Arlington, Massachusetts and a Design Excellence in Housing Award from the Boston Society of Architects in 2000 for Cronin’s Landing in Waltham. The Cronin’s Landing development was also the subject of a Harvard Graduate School of Design study examining methods of creating diversity and managing density in suburban spaces.

Mr. MacDowell was also responsible for the Waltham Hospital redevelopment, taking control of a failing healthcare institution and turning it around while redeveloping some of the hospital land into 348 apartments.
