The recipient of a bachelor's degree in apparel production engineering from Philadelphia University, Lynne Strong-Shinozaki began her career in 1984 as a quality services system analyst with General Mills and later worked four years as an associate director and team lead of product development with Kenner Toys. In the late 1980s, Lynne Strong-Shinozaki began focusing her career on causes important to her and spending more time volunteering with organizations dedicated to making positive changes in the world.

From 1989 to 1991, Lynne Strong-Shinozaki earned the United Way Volunteer Award, St. John's Social Service Award for Volunteering, and recognition as a Who's Who of Women Executives. During that same time, she volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Little Sisters Project Harlem, Telcare, and Taft Museum Cincinnati, among other organizations. She also served as a committee member with the Cincinnati Antiques Festival and the American Cancer Society's Creative Black Tie Dinner.

Ms. Strong-Shinozaki continued to support those in need in her professional pursuits throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s as a paralegal with the Legal Aid Society's Juvenile Rights Division of Manhattan and a program director with Eviction Intervention Services. Lynne Strong-Shinozaki remains active in the Manhattan community and surrounding areas as a member of the Manhattan Community Board 8 and elected member of the NYS Democratic County Committee.
