- Developed and delivered job search and employability related workshops to small groups of at-risk youth
- Developed and followed a Learning Plan with learning goals which were all achieved as part of my Practicum
Detailed Description
- In my first practicum experience, my focus was on learning, shadowing and making first steps into practically applying what I learned with clients. I was involved in two youth programs.
The first was called YouthAccess, a pre-employment program in a four week series of workshops which led to Job Development. Clientele was at-risk youth in the Kitchener area, many of whom had only grade 9 or 10 education, and had behavioural barriers to education. I ultimately successfully developed & delivered 3 workshops
The second program was HeadStart, a Life Skills program for at-risk youth who were not job-ready but who had the motivation to learn and attain that goal. HeadStart was often a lead-in to YouthAccess. As part of both programs, I worked with youth to create resumes and prepare for job interviews.
