Dr. Kandy Steel serves as a university mentor and liaison for the University of Northern Colorado’s Center for Urban Education. In this position, she leverages her experience in bringing equity and student success to the forefront by hiring qualified teaching professionals and reaching out to undergraduate students interested in teaching special education as well as early and elementary education. Dr. Kandy Steel has served as an education consultant based in Centennial, Colorado, since 1999, and she works both within the state and nationally to foster inclusive, equitable environments for students of every background.

Her efforts have been recognized on multiple occasions. She received the Wright Way Principal of the Year Award for the 2004/2005 school year presented by the Colorado Principal Center, and earned the Katherine Cooper Wright National Dissertation Award in 2003.

As an active member in her field, Dr. Kandy Steel is professionally associated with multiple organizations dedicated to connecting administrative leaders and furthering student success. Among others, these include the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Colorado Association of School Executives, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
