Jonathan Scott-Peter Hoffman serves as president and CEO of School Zone Publishing Company, running a company started by his educator parents nearly four decades ago. School Zone is a market leader in providing educational materials to children in preschool through sixth grade. Jonathan Scott-Peter Hoffman’s company addresses a need for parents to have at-home learning resources that augment classroom lessons and enable engaged progress in core reading skills.
Mr. Hoffman earned his bachelor’s degree in political science at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Joining the family business in the early 1990s, he guided a team that created School Zone’s first software product in 1993.
Mr. Hoffman’s approach has been to create products that enable “effortless learning” through play. His designs have achieved recognition that includes the “Most Elegant Interface” at the HIDE (Human Interface Design Excellence) Awards sponsored by Apple. The innovative Little Scholar tablet offers integrated app-based learning games, as well as dozens of Start to Read! books.
